A Newfound Appreciation for High-Waisted Skirts

The high-waisted skirt/shorts trend has been around for a while and I always thought it’d be one of those trends I’d never be interested in because of my petite frame – high-waisted bottoms are supposed to make us tiny people look even tinier. But then I saw one of my friends in a tutu-like high-waisted skirt and liked it. She’s around my height too and the skirt didn’t really make her look any shorter. I wonder where I picked up that fashion tip?

Jumping into the high-waisted skirt bandwagon isn’t entirely the reason why I chose to wore my polka-dotted skirt this way ($5 from a San Francisco thrift store – first time I wore it out too!). The sequined top was something I intended to sell on the store until I discovered two cigarette burns at the lower back. So I decided to keep it for myself. I’m not even sure if the skirt is supposed to be worn this way, but it has a garter waistband and pulling it up higher did the trick of hiding the burns!

The Oxford mary janes were an ukay-ukay find from the ever-reliable Fashion Delite. Like the top, it was originally meant for the Ukay Manila Store, but I decided to keep them because I’ve always wanted a pair of Oxford mary janes. Where else am I gonna find a pair that costs P450?

Wish I had time to take better pictures, but I’m running late!

Actually, I always thought skirts on the hip made me look shorter (I’m really short as well!) so I always tend to wear high waisted things ^^
